Senior Lecturer in Mental Health

I am a Senior Lecturer in the Mental Health Research Group, Division of Nursing, Social Work and Midwifery, School of Health Sciences, and Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society.
My core research interests are:

Design, evaluation, and implementation of interventions for physical and mental multimorbidity in the UK and global healthcare settings.

The development of self-management and mental health interventions for people living with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and the reduction of inequalities in access to treatment.

Capacity and capability building for the treatment of multimorbidity and research methods in low-and middle-income countries.

I am currently work package lead for capacity and capability building on ‘Burns Rehabilitation: A mutlidisciplinary programme for burns management, treatment and prevention in low-income countries’ funded by NIHR RIGHT, call 4.
I also lead a programme of research to co-design a culturally adapted pulmonary rehabilitation programme to improve access, engagement, and completion for South Asian people with COPD in the UK.

I currently supervise 3 PhD students and chair a multidisciplinary group designed to develop research capacity in multimorbidity for early career researchers at the University of Manchester and Pakistan Institute of Living and Learning (PILL).

My teaching is closely alligned to my research interests. I am Unit Lead for the Long-Term Conidtions unit for qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners. I also contribute to teaching on the PG Cert for Primary Care Mental Health, as well as the MRes and BNurs programmes in the Division of Nursing, Social Work and Midwifery, and MSc Clinical and Health Psychology in the Division of Psychology and Mental Health.
