Insights from Lady Health Workers’ Online Session

The CEI Group conducted an online session with Lady Health Workers (LHWs) on January 17th, 2024, to share the LHWs’ job services and experiences in the community. During the session, the LHWs shared their experiences about their work and responsibilities in the community. This included their scheduled visits to households and their engagement with communities to provide different health services, such as vaccination, and maternal and child health services. They also hold regular awareness sessions, like meetings and health sessions, with women, pregnant and lactating mothers. During these sessions, they educate them about safe delivery practices, family planning, tetanus vaccination, and required nutritional supplements. The LHWs also highlighted their regular training programs and refresher courses that focus on family planning, along with mental health awareness. They address postnatal depression and other mental health issues among women by offering support and mobilizing families for necessary interventions. The LHWs also mentioned some challenges, such as cultural barriers and a lack of resources, including access to required medicines by women.

The CEI Group found the session very informative. The members suggested the need for more training sessions in the mental health sphere. There was also positive feedback from LHWs about the CEI Group’s functioning and its Workstreams role.
